What we did
The project
The UNCCD’s Global Land Outlook (GLO) initiative stands as a landmark effort to shape and inform global land policies through comprehensive research and strategic communications. This report serves as a foundational document to guide policy decisions, foster sustainable land practices, and address environmental challenges affecting billions globally.
The GLO is UNCCD’s premier report, rich with scientific data and policy analysis on land degradation, desertification, and drought. The challenge was to translate this comprehensive and technical information into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with non-specialist audiences, including decision-makers and the broader public who play a crucial role in advocating for and implementing change.
Bridging the gap between research and policy
We created a series of communicative tools and materials that simplified the GLO’s findings without diluting their scientific integrity. This included developing summaries, infographics, and interactive digital content designed to make the information not only more accessible but also more compelling to a global audience.
Simplifying science for global impact
Our multidisciplinary team of communication experts, graphic designers, and subject matter specialists made sure that the essence of the GLO report was preserved while making it digestible and relatable. Key concepts were broken down into visual formats, and complex data was transformed into engaging stories and case studies that highlight the human and ecological stakes of land degradation.
Enhancing global understanding and engagement
The reimagined communication strategy significantly broadened the impact of the GLO report. By making the content more accessible, the initiative helped policymakers and the public understand the urgent issues of land degradation and the practical steps needed to address them. This work has led to increased engagement at policy forums, higher media coverage, and greater public support for sustainable land management practices.
